All the warriors we're returning back to camp to relax and settle in for the night. The sun shed its last dying rays through the tree branches. The ground appeared stained red.
Appleblossom was pawing through the fresh-kill pile. She wasn't picky, but shrews and voles were her favorite. Although frogs weren't bad. Chewy.
Bits of leaves fluttered out of the medicien cat's den. Lionpaw yowled, padding past at the moment. Scraps of herbs were stuck in his pelt. He hissed in annoyance, and began to wash.
Echoshatter padded out of the shadows, amber eyes bright with amusement. "Sorry about that, Lionpaw. I was just cleaning out some dried up old herbs. I should get collecting before leafbare comes. It's already getting chilly. Don't lick! None of those will seriously hurt you, but you might get a bellyache." She carefully plucked the leaves from his pelt, and licked his ear. Lionpaw ducked away. He had been raised by a tom, and wasn't used to a she-cat's motherly instinct. He was embarrassed by it, but he felt a tiny stab of joy. Echoshatter was kind and patient with all cats, and treated them all the same. He wondered why Snowblaze didn't talk about his sister. Wasn't he proud she was medicine cat? Didn't he like her?
"Don't you and Snowblaze get along?" he dared to ask. A guarded expression entered her eyes. "What do you mean? He's my brother, of course we get along." She didn't mention that she was sure of Snowblaze's lack of faith in StarClan. Part of her wanted to believe, but like always, another part went along with her brother. He had always taken charge when they were loners. But then she reminded herself she had the sign! So StarClan had to exist! Shadowstar and Willwoshade believed.... but still, her dreams at the Moonrock could just be that, dreams... it was so confusing! SHe looked around, and realized the subject of their conversation was gone. Where was he?
